Statement of the GPH Panel in Talks with the CPP/NPA/NDF in Celebration of the Holiday Season
Posted on Tuesday, Dec 24th, 2013
Christmas signifies peace, hope, joy, prosperity and the promise of new life. The message of Christmas has become more urgent for our people--after the series of calamities in 2013 that tested the strength and resilience of the Filipino spirit.
We are one with our fellow countrymen and women in the belief that better days are ahead, and we join in the call for peace throughout the country, a peace that will allow everyone—rebels and non-rebels alike—to celebrate the holidays free from fear and uncertainty.

Committee on the implementation of the Comprehensive Agreement on
Respect for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law, discusses
results of case analyses of morning breakout groups during the IHL training for police

Statement of the GPH Peace Panel in Talks with the CPP/NPA/NDF on typhoon Yolanda
November 15, 2013
“Let Us Work Together in Peace”
Typhoon Yolanda has ruined the lives of millions of our people, and has made a wasteland of vast areas in the Visayas, even as the Philippines is still reeling from a series of catastrophes in the Visayas—Pablo, Sendong, and the earthquake in Bohol, to name the most recent—that have wreaked havoc on the lives, property, and tranquility of our people. Today, in the wake of Yolanda, the most powerful storm in human memory, the entire country and most of the world are engaged in the most massive relief and recovery operations in our history.
We are all doing our share in this effort, as Filipinos and as human beings, with compassion, and in solidarity with our suffering sisters and brothers, their children and elders, and their shattered communities.

GPH Panel condemns BIFF violence, aims for success of peace talks
The GPH Panel, in a press briefing today, condemned the rise in violent incidents committed by the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF). “The BIFF attacks show a total disregard to human life and a wilful desire to block the progress towards achieving a peaceful resolution of the armed conflicts in Mindanao,” said GPH Panel Chair Miriam Coronel-Ferrer.
From July-September, the government panel secretariat tallied a total of 48 violent incidents, including shootings, explosions and fire fights in the provinces of Maguindanao, North Cotabato and Basilan. Some of the incidents in Basilan involved alleged members of the Abu Sayyaf group.

Statement of GPH chair for talks with the MILF on the protested arrest of four alleged MILF members
Posted on Thursday, 13 June, 2013 - 14:21We are presently reviewing the documents and the circumstances pertaining to the arrests.
Initial reports submitted by the Philippine National Police to the GPH Panel Chair indicate that the law enforcement operation in Polomolok, South Cotabato on May 31 was covered by two separate search warrants against two men. The search yielded several types of ammunitions and a weapon, leading to the men’s detention.
The arrest of another male person in Pantao Ragat, Lanao del Norte on June 8 was, on the other hand, covered by a warrant of arrest issued on the charge of frustrated murder.
We are still awaiting information on the fourth case of protested arrest in Sultan Kudarat province that reportedly took place on May 28.
