AFP welcomes new Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations
CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines formally welcomed BGen Jimmy Larida PN(M) as the new Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, J3, in a Change of Chief of Office Ceremony, presided over by LtGen Charlton Sean Gaerlan PN(M), The Deputy Chief of Staff, AFP, on May 21, 2024, here.
BGen Larida is a proud member of the PMA “Sambisig” Class of 1991 and holds a Master’s Degree in Military Studies from the U.S. Marine Corps University in Virginia, USA. He succeeded Colonel Jessie Banastao PAF (GSC), who was designated as DCS for Operations, J3, in an acting capacity.
In his address, LtGen Gaerlan praised Colonel Banastao, the outgoing acting DCS for Operations, J3, for his exemplary work ethic and dedication during his leadership. He also urged BGen Larida, the new DCS for Operations, J3, to continue the excellent performance of the office.
“I fully trust you to maintain an exceptional level of commitment and expertise in guaranteeing the continuation of the AFP’s operational plans as we face a wide range of current and emerging security challenges,” said LtGen Gaerlan.
